Temporary Closure of the Blandford Group Practice – Message from the Surgery

The Blandford Group Practice has had to make the difficult decision to temporarily postpone non-urgent route appointments due to a lapse in public liability insurance.  Our team are working extremely hard to put measurers in place to allow services to return to normal at the earliest opportunity, this includes the weekend vaccination clinic.

We would like to reassure patients that this is an insurance issue and not a clinical care issue.  We recognise this will inconvenience a number of our patients and we thank all those who have been inconvenienced for their patience at at time where practice staff are already under considerable pressure.  Arrangements are being made to ensure urgent care can continue and we hope to be able to provide a further update shortly.

The e-Consult facility will be unavailable until further notice.

If you have urgent health needs, please visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111.  In life-threateneing situation do not hesitate, call 999 and ask for an ambulance.

Some patients have their prescriptions dispensed by the practice rather than at a community pharmacy.  We have set up the following temporary arrangements for those people:

  • If your prescription is currently being processed and you need it urgently, please either go to your nearest community pharmacy or call NHS 111 and ask if you can have an emergency supply.
  • Patients prescribed new medications will have their prescriptions sent to Boots Pharmacy, 10-14 Salisbury street, Blandford Forum.  If this is not convenient, please contact the pharmacy and ask for the prescription to be redirected to a more-convenient pharmacy.  You would need to provide your name, date of birth and address when using an alternative pharmacy.
  • Patients who need repeat prescription should continue to request these online throught the practice website wherever possible.
  • If you have an adequate supply of your medication, please do not attempt to collect your medication or raise a repeat prescription request.
