Local Walks

For both walks a common starting point has been used, that being the Charlton Marshall Halt on the old railway line (O.S. map ref. 896041), the trailway. The platforms are still visible below the road bridge in Park Hill, near Charlton-on-the-Hill. Any other access point along the trailway can be used such as Church Lane or Hopegood Close.

The Views Walk
About 3 miles - 1.5 hours and not too taxing even with the hills.

Manor and Glebe Farm with 3 alternative endings
3-5 miles - 1-1.5 hours and varied scenery, mostly on the level.

Towards Blandford on the Trailway
4 miles - 1¼ hours and varied scenery, mostly on the level.

A circular walk through Tarrant Crawford
About 5 miles - 3 hours and varied scenery, mostly on the level. Parts can be muddy in wet weather.

Local places of interest = e.g. Spetisbury Rings, Badbury Rings, Blandford Forum, Milton Abbas, Wimborne, etc. The Tourist Information Centre has plenty of ideas for all ages.

Ordnance Survey maps of area = "Landranger" Series sheets 194 & 195
"Explorer" Series sheet 118 ( all the footpaths & bridleways marked clearly on this map)
